Merry Christmas to Me: The Gift of Entrepreneurship

Christmas shopping is done and the gifts are under the tree, but there is one very special gift that I cannot wait to unwrap. Quick flashback to my last post, when I mentioned the full-time commitment to my career. Yes, the flexibility and our team helped a lot, but it was about time that we switched things up a bit. Tis the season of change. My Christmas gift to myself is opportunity. The opportunity to pour more into the business by transitioning to part-time work in my career. Staring in January, I'll be working for 24 hours a week as opposed to 40 hours. Some people might think I'm crazy to take steps away from an engineering job after all of the time, money, and effort it took pursuing my bachelor's and double master's degrees, but there are some things that you just can't shake. This business is one of those things for me. The people I've met and the situations I've been in continue to solidify that this is my calling. This is a gift of service that I've been tasked to share with my community. Whenever I begin to doubt, I'm always met with confirmation. I'm protected, I'm led, I find and create joy. The entrepreneurship journey continues to be a huge part of my faith walk.

I know this isn't what Alton initially had in mind, but his gift to me is adopting my calling as our calling. The countdown for this day would not be as exciting without communicating to make sure we were on the same page and making a game plan together to prepare for this change. I'm sure there are some things that we will have to learn and adapt to as we go, but we've discussed a range of topics from our new budget to a new house cleaning schedule. I want to make sure that we're making the most of the extra allotted time, so we've hired a business coach to help keep us on track. Even though he's not quite looking forward to these sessions, I'm thankful that he's still willing to commit since he knows it's important to me. We've learned a lot about building our marriage as a business team, and I hope that we're able to explore more of that in 2023.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and I'll see you in 2023!

Well wishes & puppy kisses,

Akira
